Better Now.
Three weeks and four days. That's how long it took me to realize I needed to stop listening to myself. To just, sleep. I listened to Donna, did as she said. They had to move me from that hospital to another one where they had a more strict staff. The less they thought with their humanistic side, the better I got. I remember what happened all the time I spent in the hospital now, the real version. It was nothing like I thought before. Good I've become deaf to that voice. Which was my method to treat solitude, I had been on my own, away from my family and friends, for longer than a person should. Now, I'm back to the 'before-the-

The Voice.
'That was unnecessary.'
"SHUT UP!"
'But you know it was. And now, you just can't help to be an asshole.'
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP!!"
'Think about it. Why would a nurse disappear out of nowhere. You saw her? Really? Was anyone else there with you two to prove she exists?'
"SHUT UP!"
'Listen to me. You have to stop this.'
"VERA!!"
'She's not coming. She's not real. Nor are the flowers, the "hound", the man trying to come in here, nor your little adventures outside this room. Because you can't get out.'
"LIES!!"
'Stop screaming or they'll come to sedate you.'
"SHUT UP!! LEAVE ME ALONE!"
'I won't stop until you listen, until you

Data.
"No more visits, he can't handle them." My co-worker is trying to stop a woman from making a scene. Doesn't she know we've had enough of this? The disrespect of the reporters was too much. I am definitely moving to Seattle next month. I'll have to call my sister Marie tonight.
I open the door and, there he is. How can he take it? How? He's been here too long, physically, yet, he left a while ago. I knew this was ought to occur soon but, it's hard to watch. And even harder to fake strength in front of him. I can tell he knows, he knows I'm scared for--
"Bert? Are you alright?" he's watching the months-dried roses with such closeness

A hound of them surrounded me. 'It's 8 am, for goodness sakes!' I don't think breakfast matters to them anyway. I can hear questions but, I won't bother. Why should I? If I give them an answer, they'll won't be satisfied because it's not 'their' answer. And so far, I have yet to hear one worth while to bother with. They're either badly formulated or completely obvious, meaning; 'yes' or 'no' answers are to be avoided and, many of them served my plate. Also, there has been some comments attempted to insult me, not that I mind, I don't, but if they want me to play along there has to be

The Sun.
That night Bert didn't close his eyes, nor wanted to think of what would be like the next morning, when the conclusions will come to the public and he would have to leave for good. Couldn't help to be in terror because this was to break down his "home."
'Are you awake?'
"I think so. Why? What's the difference? A few minutes and I'll get up anyway."
'Yes, I know. Are you really going through with it? why are you humming now? Are you or not?'
"Yes."
The sun came out, announcing his fall. Such terrible thoughts and images walking across the cell, like a parade of pompous cats. The sun, magnificent omen of timing; if too fa

Thin Walls.
"He has to deal with this! Sooner or later, we won't be able to stop it and then, there comes the mess!"
"Are you kidding? Have you seen the state he is in right now?"
"Oh, excuse me.. Am I to believe you buy it?"
"Buy it?" Choking pause, "You disgust me." Strong steps slam a door.
They think I can't hear them but, I do. They're not too far from the cell and the walls aren't thick, they're not mean to be, because they have to keep an eye and ear on us. Still, it seems as if they are too naïve to this, too naïve or too careless, too careless or too evil. Certain resentment kicks in to this point, not towards them but

Downstairs.
"Checking pulse again.."
"Low.."
"Oxygen?"
"Low.."
"He's waking up.."
"Mask.."
A blur of faces, a strong light blinds me, pressure on my chest, 'what are they doing to me?' Can't move. I'm tired, sore throat, 'Vera?' He pushed her, I saw it. It hurts so bad.
I went Downstairs again. But didn't stay, just for that night, had a complication with my heart. Horrible nightmare. I saw me, throwing Vera out the... just a nightmare.
I found out that Vera is in a delicate state, something did happen to her, I heard someone talking to Donna, two days ago, and, she's not doing so well. She's been under observation all this time, jus

Vera In Wonderland.
"Have you heard anything of her state?"
"No. Last thing I knew was that she's very delicate and, well.. They're not sure if she'll make it."
"How did it happen? Do they know how she did it?"
"They think it was suicidal attempt."
"How can they?! She would never do that!"
"Shh..keep it down. I know she wouldn't but, that's the only theory they have. I mean, what else could they figure out when they have a nurse who fell out of a window, here, at the hospital?"
"I-I.. I didn't know that's what--"
The voices faded, one of them in sobs, crying maybe. Things occur when you less expect them to. Some good, some bad, some..

Vera.
"Vera?"
"Yes."
"I didn't know that was your name."
"Oh. I thought you did."
"No."
"Well, now you do." *laughs*
"Yeah. It's pretty."
"Thanks. It's Russian. It means Faith."
"Oh. Wow, I thought it was for that song from The Wall."
"Oh..." *laughs* "No really. Though, I like that record."
"Good."
*Laughs*
"Well, just Vera?"
"Huh? Oh. No, Vera Lynn."
"Oh. Like the singer, then?"
*laughs* "I suppose, yes."
Alright, maybe it is all a surrealistic moment, maybe is just a dream. Maybe is me talking to myself, maybe. Whatever she is, I enjoy the seconds of company for now. I was not off my guard this time, I was expecting it. We

Rain.
Another needle in my veins, what a surprise. I'm becoming more addicted to this meds than the things I used to take. Irony strikes, once more. Specially to the morphine they give me every night... well, sometimes more than once a day, because I "pretend". It's quite fun now, to play with their minds, let them know what I want them to know, making them believe about enough for their "research" on 'What is wrong with me', act as if I care about my health. I mean, I do care, to an extend, but I wouldn't mind if they don't figure me out, not much of a loss. It all works to my favor.
'What to do today?'
'I don't know, what do you have in
